Inspire Breathworks Program Instructor
Piper’s Angels Foundation’s Inspire Breathworks Program is a complementary, sustainable, holistic, and educational health solution to balance the body, mind, and emotions while improving overall well being of individuals with CF by increasing lung function. This is a live online weekly program tiered for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Katia Mercado is the program’s certified Breath Coach with extensive hours of training and teaching. Katia is an Integrative Holistic Bodywork, Wellness & Culinary Nutrition Practitioner; passionate about healthy living, breathwork, massage therapy, women’s health and wholesome eating. Individuals in the Breathworks Program will learn the system of techniques and exercises to be empowered with the tools to breathe better.

Who can apply?
This program is open to all persons with cystic fibrosis. It is tiered for all levels of breathwork from new beginners to those who are more advanced. The lessons taught are simple to learn, making it possible for almost everyone to practice.

​How much does it cost?
This program is free of cost with gratitude to the hundreds of donors who fundraise and donate throughout the year and during the Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis event as well as through the 2023 Circle of Care Grant from Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
How are the participants selected?
Participants are selected on a first come-first serve basis and there are up to 20 people with CF in each cohort. If you are not selected when you apply, you may be considered during a future cohort.

How many times can I take the program?
The Breathworks program is only available once for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for each person with CF. However, you may stay in contact with your cohort and practitioner for support through the breathwork process and beyond. Please join the Piper’s Angels Breathworks Program Community Group to connect with other Breathworks program participants.

What is breathwork?
Breathwork encompasses a range of breathing exercises and techniques designed to enhance physical, spiritual and mental health through conscious, controlled breathing. It is used in yoga, tai chi, qigong and even psychotherapy to promote healing, health and self-awareness. ​

How will this help my CF?
Breathwork can help to decrease stress and anxiety, improve respiratory function, boost immunity, manage pain, and strengthen lungs.

How long does the course last?
Each program runs for approximately 8 weeks with group Zoom sessions once per week for 90 minutes each.

What if I cannot commit to the entire length of the course?
Please only sign up for this course if you are able to commit to the entire length of it. This is crucial for learning proper breathwork techniques.

What if I have to drop out?
If you have to drop out of the course, please contact Piper’s Angels Foundation immediately. We understand that at times, emergencies come up.
How To Apply
Applicants are required to provide all of the following documents in order to be considered:

2. CF Verification Letter from social worker or doctor

Your CF social worker or doctor needs to personally write a verification letter (on official letterhead) confirming CF diagnosis.

Emailed directly to BWP@pipersangels.org from the social worker’s or doctor’s email.

3. Photo Submission: Send one (1) photo of the reality of what CF looks like for you. These photos serve the purpose of enlightening and educating people to the realities of life with CF and thus inspiring more people to donate to the Piper’s Angels Foundation programs to help more CF families in need.
